Following on from Sarah's 'Glimpses' on small square canvases, over the summer of 2010 she decided to change onto small gesso panels, enabling her to work outside more freely. She mixed sand into the gesso on some panels to create a very toothed surface.

'Due to the practicalities of carrying wet boards and a palette all this series are painted along the Nidd towards Gouthwaite reservoir, within a stones throw of the gallery. I'm finding the more I work outside on these pieces, the closer I'm getting to my goal of atmosphere without detail. I'm bombarded with information, so much so I have to really strip it back and look at the bare essentials of the view, light, shape and colour."

All these pieces are framed up in contemporary black and soft white framing, all in wood. They are of superb quality, giving a window like effect, beautifully setting off the work.
