Twilight Scenes
This section of 'Twilight' scenes is a recent development, started in August 2011. Sarah's work is continually changing and developing as she finds inspiration and ideas to build on. Sometimes these new collections lead on to other ideas and act as a stepping stone in the journey, and sometimes they are an idea that is worked through and exhausted and then left as a completed body of work. It is too early to tell which category these will fall into.
"This autumn, the first of my year at school hit the big 40.... I wanted to paint a little piece of Whitby as that was where we went to school together, which initiated this group of work. Another friend had also introduced me to the work of Mark Gifford. I was blown away by his subtleties in shade, just a slight change in colour, tone or direction of brush mark makes all the difference, and that lovely romantic atmosphere of twilight is captivating."
